Very meaty projects, highly complex using the latest Azure SQL and DBaas services from Microsoft - a great role for someone coming out of contracting looking for a challenging project driven role or Database Architect looking to get out of their comfort zone with new database technologies.

2020 is a year of change and this organisation is no different. Operating internationally, they are a technology-driven corporate that is rising to new challenges in healthcare and phara sectors and building innovative products that are in many ways leading the world.

As part of their digital transformation that is undertaking a strategic change in technical direction. Products moving more in the direction of Microsoft, which is no mean feat when many legacy platforms sit in other technologies.  So projects are large and complex, delivering new functionality, transitioning away from Oracle and into the very latest Microsoft Azure SQL platforms.

Surrounded by large project and development teams, you will be part of a dedicated Database Architecture unit, subject matter experts and project leaders, capable of solving problems, building highly complex database architectures and futureproof database concepts that will drive innovation and cloud based products, used by large corporations across the world for many years to come.

We're looking for people that are 100% full time Database specialists with a degree in IT and certifications and/or proven experience in any combination of the following -  TOGAF, UML, SAFe, MCSA, SQL Database Developer, Oracle Database Administrator.   Experience of Azure DbaaS / Oracle / SQL / Cosmos is essential however. 

Our ideal candidate will be very used to working within an R&D technology or engineering environment, used to working collaboratively with other architects, developers and programme managers. You will be responsible for defining patterns and standards to ensure consistency and best practice but you'll also be responsible for overseeing the delivery, configuration and operation of databases.

You will work almost exclusively on Azure technology products as well as solutions, and you will be required to quickly understand outcomes, requirements and build and document solutions confidently. Of course this will involve high level and low level designs, which will include working with lots of stakeholders in a very fast paced environment.  To qualify, you must have previous intermediate to advanced level Database Architectural experience, ideally strong in Database tuning, design as well as with design documentation experience. Any previous Azure Dbaas experience is a bonus, as this is so new you may not have been involved in it yet, but you’ll soon gain these skills! Finally, we’re looking for Architects at home in an Agile environment using UML.
